The Intelligent Workstation: DE software & control Revolutionizes Production with AI

In the face of skilled labor shortages and increasing product complexity, employee knowledge is becoming the most critical resource on the shop floor. DE software & control GmbH is addressing this challenge with workstAItion 5.0, a next-generation digital assistance system that intelligently connects people, machines, and information.

The solution transforms traditional work instructions into a dynamic information hub. A key innovation is the integration of Large Language Models (LLMs), which replace static data delivery with an interactive, conversational system. “The worker can ask questions, clarify contexts, and receive answers directly within their specific work context,” explains Friedrich Steininger, Managing Director of DE software & control GmbH.

workstAItion 5.0 recognizes the individual employee and provides them with personalized step-by-step instructions in the form of text, images, or video. This is particularly advantageous for onboarding new team members and for tasks with high variability. The system also serves as a direct feedback channel, allowing improvement suggestions to be reported easily and processes to be optimized.

In conjunction with connected devices such as cameras or pick-by-light systems, the platform also secures process steps, verifies item picking, and only releases the next work step after the previous one has been completed correctly. Thanks to open interfaces, workstAItion 5.0 can be seamlessly integrated into existing IT landscapes, such as ERP or MES systems.

“The more precise and up-to-date the instructions, the more efficiently and with fewer errors people work,” Steininger summarizes. The result is a sustainable increase in productivity, quality, and competitiveness in modern manufacturing.
